What is our mission?

”At Mose Rising, we are passionately committed to uplifting and empowering individuals from BIPOC, BAME, LGBTQ, and underprivileged communities. Through our multifaceted programs, we foster self-love, healthy boundary setting, and self-confidence. Our dedicated team operates summer clubs for children in low socioeconomic areas, empowering them with knowledge, skills, and opportunities for growth. We offer transformative workshops for adults navigating the complexities of identity within minority communities. Our inclusive BIPOC choir harmonizes voices, celebrating diversity and promoting unity. Through our LGBTQ education radio show and podcast, we strive to create awareness, acceptance, and understanding. Finally, our panels facilitate vital discussions on self-love and identity, encouraging openness and progress. Together, we strive to create a world where every individual feels empowered, valued, and celebrated.”

Who are we here for?

The Sunflower Collective prioritises access and engagement with members of the Black African and Caribbean communities in Bristol. We aim to evolve with the changing needs of our community, actualizing ideas put forth into free accessible sessions. Currently, we are providing free holiday club sessions for children in our community, in response to the lack of culturally appropriate, accessible and enriching childcare. Through these sessions, we create space for freedom to grow through activities, workshops, and nutritional home-cooked meals, run in multi-purpose outdoor settings. We follow a holistic approach to growth within this project, creating opportunities equally for members within the collective as well as the wider community.

The Living for the Streetz radio show was created to promote the voices and experiences of QTIPOC individuals within the LGBTQ+ community. The radio show aims to centre the perspectives of QTIPOC individuals and promote inclusivity within mainstream LGBTQ+ discourse, which has historically marginalised and overlooked their voices. The programme  also helps QTIPOC people, who might encounter particular difficulties and experiences within the LGBTQ+ community, to come together and provide support for one another.

At Solidarity in Sound, we believe in the transformative power of music and its ability to bring people together. Our mission is to promote diversity, inclusivity, and unity by showcasing the talents of BIPOC communities and celebrating their cultural richness. We believe that music has the power to transcend differences in culture, language, and ethnicity, providing a platform for individuals to express themselves and connect with others. Through our choir, we aim to create a community that empowers and inspires individuals while promoting solidarity and understanding among diverse groups. As we continue to face ongoing struggles in various aspects of life, including social, economic, and political spheres, it is essential to create spaces that uplift and support marginalised communities. Solidarity In Sound is committed to providing a safe and inclusive environment for BIPOC individuals, helping to break down barriers and foster a greater sense of belonging, confidence and community.
